Position Requirements
- Trade experience in machining, steel fabrication or both
- Minimum of at least 5 years at supervisor level, managing staff
- Experience using any of the following; MAZAK 2-axis and 3-axis CNC Lathes, MAZAK 3-axis vertical machining centre, Okuma Lathe, CNC Horizontal Boring Machines, CNC 4-axis machining centre; will be looked at favourably.
- Experience with any of the following; MIG, TIG, oxy-acetylene, stick and spot welding, Oxyacetylene, heating and cutting; will be looked at favourably.
- Ability to understand schematics/CAD drawings and to trouble shoot issues
- Understanding of and commitment to OH&S and QA policies and procedures
- Forklift License (Essential)
- Australian Residency (Essential)
Qualifications Required
- Trade Certificate - Fitter and Turner and/or Steel Fabrication
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Managing Machine Shop and Fabrication Section staff and workflow.
- Keeping work running through the workshop in accordance with production schedule.
- Managing ERP requirements for the Machine Shop and Fabrication Section.
- Investigating best cost options for work to be provided by outside contractors or done in-house.
- Ensuring work is carried out in the most efficient way and monitoring estimated production times against actual.
- Setting work hours for all Machine Shop and Fabrication Section employees based on workload at the time.
- Ensuring that apprentices are trained and are properly supervised.
- Assist Machine Shop & Fabrication employees with quality checks of their components as required throughout the process
- Liaise with senior members of the team to achieve on-time delivery
- Achieve section KPIs and positively contribute to achievement of factory performance KPIs
- Ensure Company policies and procedures are followed
