Our Koppers Wood Products, Takura facility, manufactures and markets a range of products including treated domestic posts, treated industrial piling and treated power poles and cross arms.Our commitment to People, Planet, and Performance is the foundation from which we operate and we are proud to support manufacturing jobs in rural Australia.About the roleThe Maintenance Fitter plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted operation of all machinery and equipment on site, by preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues and performing repairs - minimising downtime and optimising production efficiency.Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure all Plant and equipment is maintained in safe and operational working condition
- Plan and liaise with Production team for maintenance schedules, to achieve minimal downtime
- Comply with routine maintenance checks, monthly safety meetings and onsite contractor requirements
- Order and stock control of all items relating to efficient running of maintenance areas
- Assist with contractor management, permits to work, hot works and contractor induction
- Collaborate with fellow maintenance techs and production staff, to support overall reliability and performance of manufacturing processes
- Undertake all work in accordance with policies, procedures and standards - and a focus on health and safety
- Work efficiently & contribute to a healthy team environment
- Previous experience in a similar role (similar industry ideal)
- Ability to perform maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting on machinery
- Relevant Trade certification/s
- Mechanical aptitude/technical skills/knowledge of:
- welding, repair and construction
- hydraulics
- PLC functions
- pumps
- basic Fitting
- timber preservation processes
- chainsaw operation and sharpening
- Problem solving ability, capacity to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues
- Knowledge of the industry and markets we operate in
- Ability to work unsupervised & enjoy contributing to a productive team environment
