Perform minor carpentry repairs and ground maintenance, conduct WHS checks to ensure compliance and manage the stock and equipment of RSPCA NSW.
In this role of Maintenance Handyman you will be responsible for ensuring the day to day maintenance and grounds activities of the Sydney RSPCA NSW facility are delivered in accordance with relevant standard's, plans and guidelines. This role is far from mundane as it offers a vast range of tasks, whilst ensuring a healthy and safe working environment it created and maintained for all who visit the site.We encourage entry level and recently graduated candidates to apply, as all training will be provided.
About the Role
- Perform minor repairs to the RSPCA NSW, Sydney Shelter, including, but not limited to, minor carpentry repairs, grounds maintenance and other tasks as required
- Manage palatable stock in an order that reduces waste and is efficiently accessed
- Move furniture, equipment and accept supplies either manually or by using a forklift
- Carry out cyclical preventive maintenance jobs as scheduled, including cleaning windows, repairing of locks and painting
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure work health and safety compliance
- Report all known and observed hazards
- Ensure equipment needing repair is reported, or when possible carry out minor repairs to ensure no equipment downtime
- Thoroughly understand the facilities main services, i.e. gas, water, power mains and the procedure to isolate
- Track inventory of trade supplies for building, plumbing and electrical, for repairs and work requests as required
- Ensure safe Waste management disposal procedures
- Previous minor maintenance and repair experience, desirable
- Unrestricted drivers licence
- Fork Licence and High Risk work licence or ability to obtain,
- General Construction Induction Card (white card), desirable
- Ability to lift items of up to 20kg
- Computer skills for record keeping
- Use initiative to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and communicate with various team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety regulations
