Maintenance & Repairs Person
Little Locals Early Learning is currently seeking a Building Maintenance and Repairs Specialist to join their team. With 10 Centres spread across Greater Brisbane and Greater Toowoomba, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the upkeep and safety of childcare facilities in vibrant communities. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in maintenance and repair work, ensuring that each Centre maintains a high standard of safety and functionality.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a broad range of repairs and maintenance tasks. Examples of work requests from the past year include:
- Patching & painting damaged walls
- Fence repairs
- Re-fixing/replacing lose palings.
- Repairing broken/lose pool fencing.
- Repairing/replacing gate hinges
- Installing/repairing basic internal fixtures
- Installing art lines
- Mounting shelves on walls
- Furniture (E.g., cots and other room furniture)
- Replacing/repairing broken toilet seats
- Installing Flat Pack furniture required for
- Timber Fort & playground equipment
- Replacing rotted timber
- Staining timber for longevity
- Minor repairs in playgrounds (e.g., Astro turf, forts, sheds, storage boxes, refixing pavers)
- Door repairs
- Repair/replacing door internal handles, and hinges.
- Minor repairs on sliding doors
- Cleaning tracks
- Replacing track runner on bottom of doors
- Putting doors back on tracks
- Painting
- Interior walls/doors
- Exterior timber forts/fixtures
- Light bulb replacements (some harder to access places educators can’t reach)
- Filling up sand pits
- Dump Runs/larger item disposal.
- Pressure washing buildings/carparks/playscapes.
- Conduct inspections (liaise with center managers) to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.
- Repair or replace damaged equipment, furniture, fixtures, and facilities as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of indoor and outdoor areas, including playgrounds and landscaping.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment and furniture for events and activities.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and supplies.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Handyman or similar role.
- Must hold or be suitable to receive a Blue Card
- Solid knowledge of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Proficiency in a broad range of trade skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Majority of centers are located in Western Brisbane between Richlands and Ripley suiting someone located in this area.
- Must be happy to drive to Toowoomba regularly, and to greater Brisbane when required
- Must be able to keep basic records of materials & time allocated on each job
