THE ROLE
Reporting to the State Maintenance Manager and Production Manager you will be a Trade qualified Mechanical with appropriate experience to manufacturing preferred. Utilising your existing skills, you will support a small Maintenance Team in improving plant reliability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
- Model the expected leadership behaviours to support RCPA’s core value of safety and uphold RCPA’s safe systems of work.
- Ensure the Maintenance team has access to and operate within safe systems of work.
- Provide technical input to safe systems of work and the management of identified hazards throughout the plant.
- Ensure any third-party suppliers of services, materials or equipment are engaged within RCPA’s safety system requirements (Inductions, Risk Assessments, SWMS, JSA, etc).
- Actively ensure the change management process is applied and considers the various technical aspects of change in both interactions with plant and equipment and the environmental and health aspects of proposed changes.
Continuous Improvement & Best Practice Program
- Contribute to the site Continuous Improvement Program as necessary. Lead the continuous improvement effort across the Maintenance Team.
Capital Expenditure
- Contribute to key projects as required through technical input to selection, assessment, and execution/installation.
Maintenance Strategy and Systems
- Assist in development, documenting and applying the Maintenance strategy for the site. Including:
- Proactive Maintenance – Preventative & Condition Based
- Reactive – Breakdown, ‘Run to fail’
- Prioritise workflow – E.g. Planned versus breakdown.
- Respond effectively to (maintenance) action requests from other employees. Ensure clear request process in place to support.
- Provide effective feedback to key stakeholders on progress/action plans in dealing with maintenance issues.
- Regularly review key equipment reliability and apply strategies to continuously improve.
- Contribute to maintenance budget development and manage maintenance spend accordingly.
- Engage third party contractors as required to complete specialist maintenance or project tasks.
- Assist with all routine statutory inspection requirements.
- Ensure spares, materials and consumables are ordered and available as required.
- Maintenance workshop, spare parts storage and consumables are maintained in a clean and efficient manner.
Production support
- In conjunction with the Maintenance manager, contribute to the development and application of automation initiatives and site projects to improve efficiencies and production throughput.
- Engage, where appropriate, with Production employees regarding operational issues &/or training to support efficient production and reliability of site equipment.
People
- Ensure Maintenance Team are trained, assessed, competent and authorised to complete required tasks.
- Monitor team behaviours & performance, including attendance rates and address as necessary.
- Liaise with Production Supervisor to facilitate high levels of equipment availability and reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Trade qualified (Mechanical, Electrical)
- Intermediate knowledge and application of Microsoft word and excel.
- Mex - CMMS (Computer maintenance management system) or equivalent.
