AddressLocated in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold operations. In late 2020 a new satellite open pit was approved (Golden Delicious) which will supplement the large-scale underground operation that employs more than 650 people, and produces approximately 260,000 ounces of gold per annum. Ongoing investment in underground and regional exploration at Sunrise Dam has extended the mine life to 2031, with the opportunity for further extensions. Operating on an attractive 8/6(or variant thereof) fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.
We are now seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Maintenance team at Sunrise Dam.
Accountable to the Superintendent Mechanical Maintenance this role joins an experienced team responsible for maintaining assets to ensure maximum efficiency of equipment and high plant utilisation. This permanent role is site based, FIFO 8/6 from Perth.
The main tasks of the role include:
- Carrying out maintenance tasks in the mill area as directed by Maintenance Supervisors,
- Maintaining crushers, conveyor systems, pumps, pipe work, ball mill, concentrators, vibrating screens & feeders, cranes & hoists, cyclones and all associated tanks, launders and steelworks. The tasks involved in maintaining this equipment will include, but not necessarily be limited to, fitting, machining, preventative maintenance checks, inspections and fabrication.
- Carry out Mechanical Maintenance tasks on other areas including the Accommodation Village, Mine and Bore Fields.
- Availability to work a nightshift on a roster basis to respond to any equipment breakdowns.
- Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A current trade qualification as either a fitter and machinist or welder with proven fitting experience.
- Experience in the maintenance of mineral processing or heavy industrial plants preferably with experience in the gold industry.
- The ability to work with noise, dust, elevated work areas, confined work areas, extremes of temperature, water, slurry
- The ability to work as part of a Multi-skilled Workforce
- Computer literacy
- Existing and ongoing permanent working rights in Australia (mandatory)
- Current WA Drivers Licence
- Able to work FIFO, 8/6 roster
