The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, this position will prepare and present timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis to Community Managers to support the effective financial management of an allocated portfolio of communities.
In addition, it will also take responsibility for managing and developing positive relationships with external stakeholders such as residents and resident committees by partnering with Community Managers in the presentation of budgets, annual financial statements, and quarterly financial statements for an allocated portfolio of communities.
You will
- Leverage data-driven dashboards to conduct variance analysis and identify areas of focus for work effort.
- Report and present quarterly financial statements to key stakeholders and monthly on an ad-hoc basis.
- Coordinate the annual audit timetable for allocated communities and ensure that all annual financials are finalised within legislated timeframes.
- Ensure that all GST is accounted for and coded for correctly.
- Ensure that Balance Sheet reconciliations for allocated communities are maintained in accordance with accounting principles.
- Prepare and present the Annual Budget in conjunction with Community Manager and Operations Manager to Community Resident Committees for allocated communities.
- Provide guidance to other members of the Financial Operations team as required.
- Ensure a positive and productive work culture within the team and within the Financial Operations team.
- Act as a key interface with Community Managers for all accounting and administration matters.
- Assist with standardisation of finance processes across the portfolio.
- Assist with driving process improvement initiatives within Finance.
- Maintain strong rapport with Resident Committees in allocated communities and assisting with the resolution of financial resident issues, in consultation with the Finance Business Partner, Communities and the Operations team.
What you'll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or relevant field
- Professional Accounting qualifications (CPA/CA) (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with a particular focus on Property Management or Body Corporate Management
- Demonstrated superior knowledge of Retirement Villages Legislation & Aged Care Legislation, accounting standards and general accepted practices, and an understanding of internal accounting processes
- Ability to provide consistent, high quality management information to the business
- Proven track record in achieving results and ability to prioritise work in accordance with reporting needs and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work across large volumes of data and datasets, and take a risk-based approach to P&L accountability
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to persuade, convince, influence others in relation to a specific agenda while at the same time building lasting relationships and networks
- Superior communication skills, able to adapt messaging for appropriate audiences and influence a wide range of stakeholders
