Why your role matters
The Manager, Accommodation Concierge Service plays a crucial role within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience in developing, implementing and managing university-wide Accommodation Concierge Service for all students seeking safe and affordable accommodation.
Reporting to the Lead, Student Support and overseeing one direct report, this role is responsible for strategically reviewing and assessing current accommodation information available to students, developing and managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and generating additional accommodation opportunities for UNSW students. In addition, this role will liaise with private student accommodation providers to ensure prioritisation as well as maintaining currency of relevant legislation and tenancy advocacy.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Further develop, implement, and manage an Accommodation Concierge support service that provides a single point of contact for student accommodation enquiries. This service will complement existing information available to students about available accommodation.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders including portfolio colleagues in Student Life, Head of UNSW Colleges and College Deans, and key staff from other on campus providers including independent colleges on campus as well as key staff from Future Student Recruitment; Arc; Learning Abroad; the Nucleus; the Registrar and Student Services; and UNSW College.
- Develop effective and productive relationships with external stakeholders including private off-campus student accommodation providers and local real estate practices with a view to developing an active pipeline of suitable accommodation available for students.
- Take a proactive and strategic approach to generating additional accommodation opportunities on the UNSW Study Stays website and liaise with local real estate agencies and homestays to generate more provider listings.
About You:
You will hold a relevant degree with extensive experience or equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and experience alongside:
- Extensive relevant experience researching, developing, and implementing project or program plans including timelines, stakeholder engagement, regular communication, and monitoring of progress within budget and required standards and evaluation of effectiveness and impact.
- Superior interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative professional relationships with University staff and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of the dynamic nature of the current rental market together with the accommodation challenges students face while studying.
- Ability to advocate internally and externally for students to secure safe and affordable accommodation and the ability to act with tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
- Proven organisational skills and the ability to operate autonomously while demonstrating strong initiative and a proactive approach to identifying market changes and opportunities, progressing initiatives and the ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise creativity and enthusiasm in the development and implementation of new initiatives in collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
