Job description

The primary objective of this role is to manage the operation of Australian Catholic Redress and the participation of Australian Catholic Redress Participating Group in the National Redress Scheme. The National Redress Scheme was developed in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. (https://www.nationalredress.gov.au). This is a unique role requiring the successful candidate to maintain a balanced approach while working with distressing written material.

The role

  • Coordinate the participation of Australian Catholic Redress Limited in the National Redress Scheme.
  • Engage with Commonwealth officers on the involvement of the Australian Catholic Redress Participating Group in the Scheme.
  • Provide advice to members of the Australian Catholic Redress Participating Group on statutory and operational requirements of the Scheme.
  • Monitor the capacity of members of the Australian Catholic Redress Participating Group to meet the financial and operational requirements of the National Redress Scheme.
  • Receive National Redress Scheme notices and determine appropriate action.
  • Report to Australian Catholic Redress stakeholders on the operational and financial management.
  • Prepare all agendas and meeting papers for Board and general meetings of Australian Catholic Redress Limited.
  • Ensure that the Constitution of the company and the provisions of the Participating Deed are complied with.
  • Ensure all members of the Australian Catholic Redress Participating Group have up to date Institutional Lists.

To be successful

  • Demonstrated experience in communicating and working with Government agencies at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Catholic organisations at a senior level.
  • A tertiary qualification in a management area or other relevant area, or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • An understanding of the requirement for confidentiality, and adherence to privacy requirements at all times.
  • A broad understanding of the protected information provisions of the Scheme.
  • Resilience and the ability to manage self-care within a highly sensitive and challenging environment.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills combined with compassion and empathy.
  • Excellent time management, the ability to meet hard deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated sound experience in Microsoft Windows operating environment and the Microsoft Office applications software.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to promote the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel values within the workplace.
