Job description

The role of the Manager is to lead and manage the Child Safety Service Centre in the delivery of high quality, collaborative and integrated child protection services to clients and communities serviced by the Child Safety Service Centre. This is achieved through the implementation of quality casework and case management systems/practices/standards and practice framework, the establishment of enduring productive partnerships with carers, the community, public and non-government sectors, service providers and the ongoing professional development and management of staff.
You are also responsible for managing the financial, physical, and human resources within the Child Safety Service Centre.

It is mandatory for Child Safety Service Centre Managers to hold a blue card administered by the Queensland Public Safety Business Agency.
Possession of a C-class drivers licence.
The Manager key responsibilities are:

  • Support, lead and manage staff in a Child Safety Service Centre to ensure that children's safety, belonging and wellbeing needs are met and that children and families are included as meaningful partners in the child protection process.
  • Lead and manage the Child Safety Service Centre including corporate governance, financial management and proactive human resource management whilst maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and quality service delivery.
  • Actively participate as a member of the child safety regional management team contributing to the effective functioning of child safety services across the region.
  • Allocate, prioritise and perform work tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and statutory, financial and administrative delegations.
  • Provide leadership and management in a style that is consistent with the Framework for Practice in the delivery of high quality child protection services including the development of appropriate service responses to meet the identified needs of clients including children, young people, families, carers, the community and the public and non-government sectors.
  • Provide leadership and management of the child and family reforms both within the department and externally by partnering with Community services specifically and their role in coordinating community responses.
  • Actively participate in and, where appropriate, lead local area forums with government and non-government stakeholders, promoting a positive and accountable public image and the development of collaborative partnerships to support quality service delivery outcomes.
  • Develop genuine and enduring service delivery partnerships to enhance cross-sector participation, and support staff attendance at training and development activities and the delivery and coordination of local child protection services.
  • Foster a culture of appreciative inquiry and philosophy of frontline service delivery that is congruent with the values of the Framework for Practice and focusses on outcomes for children and families that meet their needs for safety, belonging and wellbeing.
  • Provide proactive high level support, advice and information to regional management in relation to child protection service outcomes, development of service delivery and improvement strategies, staff training and support strategies and performance agreements.
  • Engage regularly with the local community to request feedback about the service delivery the community receives and is part of delivering, congruent with the principles of the practice framework.
  • Assist with leading the development of systems and processes related to the implementation of the child protection practice framework and monitor and evaluate performance to ensure service delivery in the region is consistent with the requirements of the practice framework.
