About Finding Kin Team
The Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services regional services are at the frontline of service delivery and regional roles offer the chance to directly support and build the local community. Working in a regional service can provide staff with opportunities for increased positional autonomy and a greater connection to, and involvement in, the local community.
Child protection in Queensland is undergoing a significant reform to ensure that children and young people are cared for, protected and safe.
In the Finding Kin Team you will have the opportunity to lead and work together with Child Safety Service Centre staff and our Non-Government partners including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to ensure the delivery of high quality care arrangements and Regulation of Care matters for children and young people under the care of the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services. The role also has a focus on providing support and information to all Foster and Kinship Carers in the region.
Your contribution
The role of Manager is to lead and manage a team of professional and operational staff in the Finding Kin Team and Delegated Authority, ensuring the delivery of highquality carer arrangements and Regulation of Care in accordance with legislation and practice guidelines. The focus will be on well supported kinship carer arrangements for young people from first placement or alternatively work through permanency arrangements and transition of functions to Delegated Authority.
This role will oversee the development and implementation of a range of high-quality placement options for finding kin for children and young people in alternative care arrangements, with a strong focus on culturally appropriate matching and establishing enduring productive partnerships in consultation with departmental staff, carers and other key stakeholders to meet the placement needs of children in out-ofhome care, and the ongoing professional development and management of staff.
