  • Job share opportunity (up to 3 days a week) for up to 12 months
  • Working days are Thursday, Friday, and the possibility of a third day.
  • All DRNSW office locations will be considered.
  • Salary from $139K pa to $161K pa (pro rata) plus super

The Mining, Exploration and Geoscience (MEG) Correspondence & Briefings team are looking for a Manager Correspondence & Briefings to undertake a Job Share opportunity (up to 3 days a week) for up to 12 months.

Working closely with your Job Share partner, but with full responsibility on the days you work, you’ll be responsible for managing and coordinating a high-pressure, high-volume environment, coordinating the flow of information between MEG, the Office of the Secretary, and the Ministers office.

You’ll also:

  • Lead and direct the team with the coordination, preparation, and delivery of the full range of parliamentary and ministerial material to ensure they meet the required standards in terms of accuracy and style requirements.
  • Coordinate the distribution of various requests to relevant branches, review the accuracy and quality of responses provided, and make recommendations.
  • Distribute weekly reports.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating engagement and proactively working to meet standards and timeframes.
  • Provide advice and support to senior executives and managers to consistently interpret and improve on the quality and timeliness of materials.
  • Evaluate and review complex, sensitive or emerging issues to contribute to group, departmental or ministerial requests for advice.
  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance measures, protocols and process guides to ensure high standards.
  • Identify and contribute to the evaluation of, and changes to, systems, procedures, and processes to optimise efficiency and to support the continual improvement of services.
  • Support direct reports by maintaining a regular meeting schedule and daily interactions in Microsoft Teams and Outlook.

You’ll need to be someone with the experience, skills, and knowledge to ensure:

  • quality and timely coordination of MEG’s Correspondence and Briefings to the Minister, Secretary and CEO.
  • expert coordination, preparation, and delivery of the full range of parliamentary and ministerial material including House Folder Notes, Budget Estimates Notes and responses to Parliamentary Questions.
  • smooth leadership and direction of a small team in partnership with your Job Share colleague.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, communications, public policy, political science, or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience.
