Work Location: Fortescue Centre & Bennett St
  • Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
As the Manager Data Science and Services, you will play a pivotal role in forming the strategy and driving the adoption of AI and associated technologies and enabling business transformation across our organization. You will work closely with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and lead the execution of projects. In this role, you will act as a bridge between technology and business, translating complex AI concepts into tangible value propositions and driving the design, development and adoption of AI solutions and products across various business functions and operations. Your scope will include structured and unstructured data.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the development and implementation of Fortescue's Data Science and Services strategy that aligns with our business objectives and drives transformational change.
  • Lead the Data Science and Services team, providing technical guidance and mentorship to foster innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and opportunities where AI can create value and improve efficiency.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of scalable solutions, products and platforms.
  • Define and execute projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the desired business outcomes.
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance on AI best practices, emerging trends, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess AI readiness, identify skill gaps, and develop programs to enhance literacy within the organization.
  • Build and nurture relationships with external partners, vendors, and experts in the AI field to stay abreast of advancements and potential collaborations.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of initiatives, tracking key performance indicators and reporting on the return on investment.
  • Stay informed about the ethical and legal considerations of AI implementation and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements, proactively identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders on Data Science and Services-related matters.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, Data Science, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience driving business transformation through the adoption of AI technologies.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand and align AI initiatives with strategic business objectives.
  • Strong experience with a wide range of methodologies, including mathematical optimisation, machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning, computer vision
  • Strong experience with digital product development
  • Experience in identifying use cases, assessing feasibility, and developing business cases.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills to effectively convey the value of our products and services to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations and governance frameworks related to AI implementation.
  • Continuous learning mindset with a passion for staying updated on trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Experience in mining and resources sector, including operations, will be of great benefit
