Job DetailsJob Title: Historic Hansard Specialist - Quality AssuranceEmployment Type: Ongoing/Non-OngoingClassification: Parliamentary Service Level 4Closing Date: 11:30pm AEDT, Thursday 30 May 2024Contact: Christine Peut, 02 6277 5413, Christine.Peut@aph.gov.auThe OpportunityThe Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Historic Hansard Specialist - Quality Assurance within Library Collections & Databases.The Parliamentary Library provides high quality information, analysis and advice to Senators and Members of Parliament in support of their parliamentary and representational roles. This position is within the Library Systems, Project and Innovation section and provides an opportunity to work on dedicated digitisation projects. The Historic Hansard Specialist - Quality Assurance officer works within a small Digitisation team using a bespoke application to perform Quality Assurance on maintaining historical accuracy for the Parlinfo collection.Who we are looking forWe are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a team. We require a flexible, positive person with strong digital literacy and a willingness to learn new skills. A working knowledge of XML techncology or similiar concept and the process of data validation is desirable.Job Specific Requirements:
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Immediate supervisor: Manager, Digitisation projectsUnder limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Use a bespoke application to perform corrections to the XML structure of library records.
2. Provide feedback on the efficiency and efficacy of the bespoke application and work practices.3. Work to meet project objectives and performance indicators.4. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.5. SalaryCurrently, the salary range for this position is $77,719 - $84,450 per annum.Conditions of EmploymentEmployment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
  • Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
