About the Role


Olympic Dam is an iconic poly-metallic operation and the world's third largest copper equivalent orebody. With exciting growth opportunities across our Copper SA Asset, we are looking for a truly exceptional candidate to continue to define the orebody, optimise our existing operation/s and seek and support future growth options to ensure Olympic Dam and the Copper SA Asset grow in a safe and sustainable way - delivering value for generations to come.

As Manager Geoscience reporting to the General Manager Planning, Technical & Environment Copper SA, you will lead innovation and functional transformation to industry leading practice across multiple-disciplines and strategic timelines. You will continue to build an inclusive Geoscience function that provides orebody knowledge to translate our strategy into safe, executable plans with strong stakeholder commitment and effective risk management. This role requires an ability to work at a high level of strategic thinking, as well as translate this to sustainable operational practices.

This position is based in Adelaide with regular site travel required. Flexible work opportunities are offered in this Monday-Friday role.

In this role you will:
  • Do what's right and ensure an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental and community responsibility is maintained through all Geoscience activities.
  • Develop and lead a highly capable team to deliver all Geoscience activities at Olympic Dam including mine geology, structural geology, geo-metallurgy, resource estimation, and resource characterisation for Major Projects.
  • Focus on delivery to customers, with regular routines to engage and act upon feedback.
  • Manage change effectively and efficiently to strategically enhance the team's performance.
  • Build an inclusive, high performing culture that values business outcomes, technical capability, effective stakeholder communication and innovation.
  • Oversee safe and effective operation of the Core Processing Area.
  • Proactively engage with Operations to ensure our ~170km per annum diamond drill program is safely executed to plan.
  • Collaborate with key customers and stakeholders to ensure Geoscience knowledge is fully integrated in mine planning, operations, and processing.
  • Lead industry benchmarking for best practice mine geology, resource estimation, reconciliation, and geo-metallurgy methods, for drilling and sensing technologies, and for opportunities to leverage knowledge from other industries into Geoscience.
About You
  • You will be an experienced people leader with demonstrated experience leading a team in the mining or similar industry. You have a passion for developing others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding, and guiding. We value:
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage with and resolve issues with all levels of technical and operational teams.
  • Well-developed professional technical expertise in one or more Geoscience sub-disciplines with experience in underground mining and resource estimation preferred.
  • Tertiary degree in a Geoscience or related field (or equivalent experience) with significant experience.
  • Ability to lead through change, and seek better ways.
  • Experience identifying and implementing new technologies in the Resources sector.
  • Study Management and Major Capital projects experience.
