The role
Reporting to the Director, MHAOD Planning Unit, MHAOD Strategy and Planning Branch, CPSS Division, you will provide technical expertise and people management to support state-wide service needs analysis and planning focusing on state-funded mental health, alcohol, and other drug services. The role will also be responsible for delivery of initiatives funded through Better Care Together - a plan for Queensland's state-funded mental health alcohol and other drug services to 2027. To achieve key objectives, you will need to proactively engage, collaborate and partner with key internal and external stakeholders and provide authoritative advice to inform decision-makers.
Your responsibilities extend to the application of planning methodologies, data analysis, preparation of high-level reports, and provision of expert advice to inform strategy and service planning. Effective communication, project management, people management and ethical decision-making are essential for achieving organisational goals. The successful person
For success in this position, expertise in intricate health systems and familiarity with mental health, alcohol, and other drug services and their intersections with primary healthcare, partner agencies, and non-government organisations are essential. You should demonstrate project management experience within large service delivery organisations and possess a comprehensive understanding of health service planning frameworks, health service priorities and critical health system issues.
Your skills should encompass the ability to source, analyse, and interpret data, clinical evidence, and health service information. Additionally, strong written communication skills are crucial for compiling policy briefs, reports, and other documents. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and liaison, are necessary, along with a proven ability to build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels.
You should also have a demonstrated history of effective team leadership, fostering an atmosphere where staff are nurtured, developed, and encouraged to achieve their utmost potential.
