ABOUT GEMCOLocated on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963 WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS Residential option offers low-cost living and generous reimbursable family Holiday Travel Assistance 26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers Ability to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leave Annual short-term incentive bonus that recognises both your individual performance and the overall success of the business ABOUT THE ROLE This role is a Permanent Full-Time position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns, or can be offered as residential on Groote Eylandt.As the Manager Mining, you will be responsible for effective organisation and operation of people, processes, and equipment to enable sustainable delivery of mining team targets for safety, volume, productivity, and cost in alignment with the business planOther key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Work within the South32 Safety Guarantee including leading and driving a safety focused culture, and delivering safe mining and maintenance activities Apply continuous improvement processes to all areas of accountability, and perpetually strive to deliver better value outcomes Provide leadership across mining operation activities (topsoil removal, overburden improvement, dozer striping,, drill & blast, rehabilitation) Collaborate with peers to ensure interfaces across the value chain especially with the Production Planning, Processing and Logistics teams are effective ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Proven success at leading and engaging a mining team to deliver outcomes that consistently meet or exceed targets Understanding of mining methods and the ability to improve mining practices Ability to develop, coach and mentor employees and line leaders to improve communication, engagement, diversity, and capability Sound presentation, facilitation, negotiating and influencing skills Qualifications for this position are: Relevant tertiary qualification, or extensive work experience in a directly related environment Valid C Class Drivers Licence South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
