We are seeking an experienced Manager to lead our property project delivery team and effectively oversee the project portfolio. The property projects will include commercial office fit outs and light industrial (including workshops, warehouses, and laboratories) for our minerals and energy internal stakeholders. Projects are diverse in scale, budget and can be located locally, nationally, and internationally. This role provides direct line management for our senior project managers, projects managers and coordinators and is an escalation point for all risk items in relation to project delivery.
This role plays a crucial part as a leader, actively contributing to the growth of the team by providing guidance and support in various aspects of project management through mentoring whilst demonstrating the Fortescue values.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual, a natural problem-solver and leader, able to delegate where appropriate but also lead from the front.
A sound understanding of how to effectively structure the operations of a project delivery team including development of governance frameworks, systems and procedures required to provide a good foundation for the successful delivery of a project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement effective organisational project structures for the team to facilitate reporting and risk management of each project within the portfolio.
- Implementation of governance frameworks, systems, procedures, and templates to facilitate a streamlined and standardised delivery model that caters for Fortescue's risk profile.
- Assemble and lead project teams for optimal performance. Support, encourage and provide ongoing development to project professionals to successfully deliver projects.
- Monitor and track the progress and status of each project within the project portfolio.
- Meet with the project management teams regularly to ensure open communication regarding any project issues or risk items.
- Manage and track project risk items at a high level, ensuring the implementation of risk management strategies, along with communication of risk items to the business where appropriate.
- Control and monitoring of operational project delivery budget.
- Implement systems and procedures to ensure the reliable and consistent tracking of project budgets and cashflows to ensure projects are operating frugally and in accordance with approved project budgets.
- Utilisation and integration of technology and forward-thinking initiatives to effectively manage project delivery teams.
- Examples of exercising sound judgement, leading and facilitating decision making on complex issues among multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to achieve tight deadlines.
- Highly organised and able to manage a portfolio of projects with a team of project delivery professionals.
- A sound understanding of project delivery frameworks, including the systems and procedures underpinning them.
- Proven delivery of small to large office fit-outs or development projects across the entire project delivery lifecycle.
- Experience in project budgeting, feasibilities, and ability to ensure a portfolio of projects is delivered to meet time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Highly IT literate and able to use facility management tools. Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
