About the Role

This is an exciting time with Copper SA as we forge a pathway to ongoing sustainability and continuing development and optimisation of the Olympic Dam asset.

Reporting to the General Manager Engineering & NPI, this senior leadership role oversees the Small Projects teams at Olympic Dam to successfully deliver projects with a focus on customer expectations, HSE, processes, standards, quality and cost.  Though energetic and supportive leadership you will drive performance, culture, strategic direction and development of your team.

This position is based in Adelaide with site travel required weekly.

In this role you will:

  • Promote and coach operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of team members
  • Provide oversight and support to your team to successfully delivery on projects up to $30M
  • Effectively engage with internal and external parties
  • Provide inputs into plans, budgets, and targets for the Project team and ensure delivery against them, including monitoring and controlling costs associated with Capital and Operating budgets
  • Endorse the planning, safe execution, and commissioning of Project packages according to agreed scope, budget, schedule, and relevant standards and specifications
  • Drive Change Management initiatives across the group
  • Spearhead process improvement initiatives to optimise projects and outcomes
  • Foster positive relationships through effective communication and open consultation with a wide group of stakeholders internal and external to BHP
  • Managing your team to apply the BHP Charter Values, global level policies and statutory obligations whilst maintaining an overriding commitment to Health, Safety & Environment

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, Science or an aligned discipline or significant experience in project management
  • Proven leadership experience within Operational and Technical settings across Minerals or heavy industry
  • Experience in project management and full project lifecycles
  • Demonstrated experience in leading / managing a large portfolio of projects
  • Effective and highly influential diverse stakeholder engagement including an ability to constructively challenge ideas and build trusted relationships
  • Highly developed and demonstrated change management and culture building capabilities
  • Exceptional communication and the ability to engage across a multitude of levels
  • A sound understanding of key business and mining industry performance drivers.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker that demonstrates business acumen, with the ability to focus and prioritise critical deliverables to provide timely insights to stakeholders
