The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies, and societies across NSW.
In this role you will lead and manage NSW water obligations in relation to the Snowy Hydro scheme, including administration of the Snowy Water Licence and Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed. This role liaises extensively with other teams within the NSW DCCEEW Water and Biodiversity, Conservation and Science Group and with other government agencies, the MDBA and Snowy Hydro.
About You
Responsibilities in this role include leading the NSW responsibilities in relation to the water operations and regulation of Snowy Hydro scheme, and delivery of actions resulting from the 10-Year Snowy Water Licence review (the review). You will provide regulatory oversight of the Snowy Water Licence, technical advice on water operations, coordination of environmental water management, development of water policy and program management in relation to the Snowy scheme
To be successful in this role, you will understand technical water operations, management and policy issues, and their interlinkages with energy, agriculture, and the environment. You will be skilled n effective communication of technical information and you will also have ability in relationship management at a senior cross-government level.
Desirable Knowledge & Experience
- Knowledge or experience of water management in relation to the Snowy Hydro scheme, Murray, Murrumbidgee, Snowy or Montane Rivers.
- Demonstrated experience in NSW water management.
- Tertiary qualifications in hydrology, natural resource management, water resourcing engineering or similar; or extensive relevant experience.
- Australian drivers' licence.
