Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, you will drive the overall operations of the Waste Services section and ensure effective, safe and efficient delivery of program objectives relating to Council's waste services. Your accountabilities will include but not be limited to operating as part of the combined management team to establish and implement Council's strategic direction, assisting in the implementation of the Annual Waste Services Operational Expenditure Budget, preparing reports and decision recommendations within specified legislative timeframes, and implementing the Business Plan and Work Schedules.
With demonstrated experience leading an operational team of contract waste specialists to deliver a portfolio of projects, you will provide specialist information and advice on waste service matters, assist the Director Infrastructure Services to achieve outcomes in accordance with Council's Corporate Plan, policies and procedures, and provide relevant statistics in accordance with Departmental Business Plan performance targets.
Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable, but not as essential as demonstrable experience in a relevant area of Local Government or industry, with the ability to read, understand and interpret the Local Government Act and relevant legislation. You will have tendering experience or have sat previously on tender panels. Additionally, this role is a member of the LAWMAC (Local Authority Waste Management Action Committee).
