Manly United Football Club Ltd is a semi professional Football Club that operates teams and development squads for the 20,000 players that represent the Manly Warringah Football Association, football’s Governing Body on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Manly United is based at Cromer Park in Sydney and operates teams in all Football NSW Competitions, which is part of the Football Australia Talented Player Pathway.
Manly United has teams in the Men’s and Women’s National Premier, Boys and Girls Youth League competitions, Boys and Girls SAP competitions and runs Development Squads and School Holiday Camps.

OPPORTUNITY
With the increasing governance requirements to continue to operate a first class Football Club, Manly United is looking for an energetic, flexible, passionate, dedicated and educated person to work with the Chief Executive Officer and the Men’s and Women’s Technical Director to effectively administer the on and off-field football functions of Manly United Football Club in their capacity as Youth Development Head Coach.
You will oversee all technical, tactical and administrative aspects as Youth Development Head Coach of Boys & Girls SAP & YOUTH, Boys 9-12 Development Squads, U6/7 and U8 Mixed Foundation Squads and Holiday Camps.
You will provide coaching expertise, leadership and administrative support for the Club’s Football Teams and all coaches at the Club which helps to achieve the overall aims and objectives of the Club and to provide coaching expertise and leadership for Aspirational, Development and Underage footballers across the Club.
The role is a full-time position with a salary of $71,000 plus superannuation.
As with all sports-related positions, the role will include weekend and night work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver an appropriate coaching program adhering to the philosophy and content of the Manly United FC principles and in line with Manly United FC timelines and constraints.
- Assist the Technical Director in ensuring that the focus of the program retains the provision of the best opportunities for players to be identified for national and professional club selection.
- Provide game day coaching expertise.
- Analyse team’s performance and provide feedback to players.
- Develop strategies for team’s success and prepare game plans that maximize team’s potential
- In conjunction with the Technical Director assist recruitment of players through trials, scouting and camps.
- In conjunction with Technical Director develop and establish an appropriate pre season training program.
- Creating training plans for coaches and players, selection and development of coaches for Development Squads, Foundation Squads and holiday camps.
- Mentor and Motivate players to reach their full potential.
- Analyse games for the Youth & SAP programs and coordinate with the coaches to deliver on field training programs.
- Coordinate the administration and promotion of the Development / Foundation Squad trials.
- Liaise with the Technical Director and the CEO to establish a consistent coaching policy throughout the Club.
- Manage the Development Squad players and create training structure and plan to develop Development Squad coaches and players.
- Be the initial contact for all administration aspects of the Development Squads
- Along with the MUFC Accounts keeper, reconcile monies during and after completion of camps, Prepare registration forms and update prices.
- Coordinate the administration and promotion of the Development Squad trials and be the initial contact for all administration aspects of the Development Squads.
- Take responsibility for the administration duties for Manly United Football Club, including registration, trials, communication, discipline and matchdays.
- Offer administration assistance to the Manly United Technical Director and football staff for Manly United related activities
- Answer to all football-related Youth & Development Squad questions or queries.
- Compile and manage the Manly United Player data base.
- Drive Manly United events with volunteers and Board Members.
- Coordinate the logistics and delivery of the Manly United gear and merchandise through our agreed suppliers.
- Work with staff to ensure all Manly United Matchday logistics are in place for games and trainings.
CRITERIA
- Must have a Football Australia A Licence Diploma
- Must have Working With Children Check
- Must have a Drivers Licence
- Must have experience in running junior football programs
- Must have broad knowledge of the Football NSW football system
- Experience in off field organization / work / employment is an advantage
- Knowledge of the Manly United / MWFA football system an advantage
- Ability to work as part of a team essential
