About the role

We seek a Manufacturing Lead - Chromatography, for a full-time role, to work in our production facility on day shift, based in Ringwood. 

Reporting to the Separation Science Manager, this role will be responsible for end-to-end production of GC capillary columns within our organisation.  This role will develop, implement, and maintain production processes delivering columns and chemistries that support improved analytical data in the GC workflow.  They work closely with the Global Supply Chain organization to ensure optimal customer outcomes and will work with the Analytical Consumables team to transition new products from the development stage to production ensuring that all procedures, test, and validation documentation is in place. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • End to end responsibility encompassing all production product from raw materials through to finished goods. This includes the management of WIP.
  • Manage the development and implementation of Continuous Improvement and new production processes and liaise with planning to ensure these processes are reflected in the product routings.
  • Management of production critical documents such as:
  • Interface with other Corporate and Business functions including:
    • Management of production critical documents such as:
      • Procedures and/or Work Instructions.
      • Product specifications.
  • Mentoring, development, and coaching production staff.
  • Interface with other Corporate and Business functions including:
    • Engineering – Engineering changes (product and process) & NPIs.
    • Supply Chain – Customer Service – product delivery related information.
    • Customer Service – product routings and work orders.
    • Warehouse & Distribution – materials flows and inventory management.
    • Quality – Internal/external audits, procedures updates and OQRs.
    • Marketing and Product Management – product changes.
    • Production
  • Management and utilization of production infrastructure
  • Management of production Work Orders (WO) including.
    • Scheduling of staff and sequencing of production runs in conjunction with Planning team.
    • Effectively managing priority of customers’ orders.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Previous experience in chemical industries manufacturing with an emphasis on: 

  • Ideally relevant experience working in a related chemical industry production environment – for example polymer chemistry and/or polymer manufacture.
  • Implementation of productive processes and improvement initiatives.
  • Data capture, analysis, and translation to improvements.
  • Managing the manufacture of a diverse chemical product portfolio.
  • Experience in translating new products to production.
  • Ability to meet production deadlines.
  • Implementation of LEAN Manufacturing principles.
  • Systematic approach to problem solving and solution implementation.
  • Strong Communication skills – both written and verbal across all levels the organization.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring, coaching, and managing production teams.
  • Experienced in the management of process changes, including the effect on production staff and deliverables.
  • Process oriented – this role requires the candidate to translate the functional performance specification to an efficient procedural process.
  • Knowledge of Quality requirements and excellent record keeping skills
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and those inherent to the use of chemicals
  • Understanding of relevant ISO 9001:2015 documentation
