Australia is the world’s second largest exporter of Canola seed and GrainCorp is a significant player in the industry with a world renowned crushing facility located in Numurkah, Victoria. GrainCorp Oilseeds provide the components for cooking oil & spreads as well as cosmetics, lubricants, fuels and other industrial applications. We source oilseeds from growers and accumulators in Australia to crush and create products.
About the role
As Manufacturing Manager at our Numurkah site you will be required to lead the manufacturing function (oilseeds crushing/extraction, canola meal production, and all processing activities related to oil refining e.g. degumming, neutralization, bleaching, blending and deodorization) and onsite logistics team, within budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and standards.
You will be accountable for ensuring safety, customer quality, cost and delivery requirements are achieved within the manufacturing plants. Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building positive working relationships ensuring that all Safety, Health and Environmental requirements are adhered to. As well as establishing standard manufacturing processes/procedures whilst also mentoring and supporting the team in the understanding of and adherence to such.
To be successful in this role you will need to make sure you lead from the front in implementing and managing lean and continuous improvement practices in accordance with contemporary manufacturing principals, highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, work practices and processes.
About your experience
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading and managing production activities within a 24/7 environment ideally in a heavy industrial or food manufacturing environment. You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline
- People leadership and management expertise
- Experience in implementing continuous improvement / lean practices
- High level of organisational skills and attention to detail when required
- Well-developed management skills
