About the role: 

Our business is growing, and we are building a new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Cranbourne West.

A permanent full-time appointment, the Manufacturing Manager (UHT and Spreads) will play a key role in the establishment and management of our new manufacturing site in Cranbourne West.  Reporting to the General Manager of Operations and collaborating with the Rangebank project team, the Manufacturing Manager will contribute to the set up and commissioning of manufacturing operations and will manage the Production Team and Quality Control Operators at the Rangebank Site. While initially based in Knoxfield, the role will eventually transition to the Cranbourne West facility. Given the multisite nature of our operations, the Manufacturing Manager will be required to attend both sites as required.

The Manufacturing Manager – (UHT and Spreads) will contribute to the ongoing success Nuttelex by ensuring the efficient and effective production of UHT and Spreads while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Site Set-Up and Commissioning:

Collaborate with the Nuttelex project team to ensure the successful setup and commissioning of manufacturing operations. This will include induction of contractors on site, set up of new site amenities, services and standard operating processes and procedures for the new facility. You will be required to undertake appropriate key supplier equipment training. Develop your knowledge and skills to be a key Nuttelex expert on UHT processing. 

• Day-to-Day Management of Operations Team:

Lead and manage the Production Teams and QC Team to ensure smooth daily operations. Implement and enforce safety, quality, and efficiency standards across the manufacturing process.

• Production Oversight:

Produce UHT products and Spreads at the Rangebank facility. Work with the Planning, Scheduling, and Procurement Manager to meet production schedule requirements.

Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to the team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

• Continuous Improvement:

Participate in analysis and evaluation of new processes, schedules, equipment, and machinery to optimise plant efficiencies. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. 

Main duties of the role will include the following: 

• Working closely with the General Manager to ensure efficient production at the Cranbourne site.  
• Management and supervision of the Production and QC Operations Team. 
• Providing leadership, coaching, training, and development to Production and QC Team. 
• Working closely with the Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and other teams to understand and trouble shoot production, quality, and equipment issues as they arise. 
• Utilizing your project management skills to manage manufacturing projects in the business in conjunction with the General Manager of Operations, as required. 
• Be involved in other new site projects and other cross functional project work as required. 

About you: 

• Experience in a similar role within a UHT processing environment is a distinct advantage. 
• Demonstrated operational experience in a manufacturing leadership role in food production facility. 
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with an ability to motivate and encourage team co-operation.
• Strong understanding of food safety and GMP processes.
• Proactive with a strong focus on productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• A demonstrated solutions-focused approach to problem solving and decision-making.
• Sound administration and time management skills and proven ability to independently manage workloads.
• Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using enterprise management systems. 
• Demonstrated drive, passion, and commitment to achieve results.

• Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment and continuously keep learning.
