Great opportunity for a “hands on” Manufacturing Manager to join a well-established Australian manufacturing Company that manufactures a range of “made to order” building products and solutions for their customers in every state of Australia in the residential building sector. The Company run a medium sized operation with a mix of production processes, a relatively fast-paced environment, and with short lead time delivery requirements. This role relates to a single site west of Sydney.
In this role you will be responsible for leading, managing and coaching the production teams to achieve the company’s overall production objectives [financial and lean targets] including management of safety, as well as managing the dispatch / transportation of goods to meet all customer requirements. You will be involved in: managing and supporting the ongoing effectiveness of your Team Leaders ensuring product quality, on time and in full product delivery (DIFOT), coordinating rosters / schedules, the proactive continuous “bedding down” and continuous improvement of all systems and processes within the operational area, ensuring the companies OH & S policy, despatch / transport, overseeing plant reliability / maintenance programs, effective liaison internally with all onsite personnel (as well as key stakeholders, customers etc), fostering a positive and proactive “can do” responsive customer service culture, etc
The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Technical qualifications - a Degree or Diploma in a Technical or related area (ie Engineering), a minimum of 2+ years Production Management experience (with 30+ people and in a unionized environment) in manufacturing processes with a “made to order” product with fast process flow to the customer, experience managing transport & logistics functions within a manufacturing operation ideally within the building products and or industrial sector.
You will have demonstrated: having trained and developed personnel to maximize their skill set, managing cultural change, using and managing structured processes, KPI’s and measures (data and reporting) in a business to ensure accountability and responsibility, implementing continuous improvement projects (ie using Lean manufacturing or 5S or other process improvement systems), using various IT systems (ie Excel, ERP systems). With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be: agile and able to adapt to circumstances, an active problem solver, commercial, organized, proactive and passionate about continuous improvement and fostering a positive customer centric successful culture.
