We are a Volvo Penta and Yanmar marine engine dealership, specializing in inboard yacht engines. Over our 30-year history we have developed a team of highly trained technicians, and now have a great opportunity for a qualified mechanic to join the team.
We’re searching for a Marine Mechanic with a can-do attitude to service and repair marine inboard motors. The ideal candidate will be well-presented, self-motivated, and driven to complete high-quality work.
What to expect
Our Spotswood location includes a well-equipped service area and engineering workshop, jobs can be at the workshop or on-site at marinas around Melbourne. There is a lot of variety in the work, our technicians are comfortable with unfamiliar situations and problem solving. Each team member takes ownership of their own tasks and delivers them independently, while working as a team to share knowledge and ensure high quality results.
You will work on a range of jobs from service to complete re-powers, covering engine, transmission and running gear. Customer experience is top priority, you will be well-presented at all times to communicate progress to customers and handoff jobs at completion.
What you’ll do
- Test and troubleshoot high-end marine engines and electrical systems
- Perform service and repair on engines, transmissions and running gear
- Professional documentation of service records and repairs
- Guide and mentor apprentices
What you’ll bring
- Trade qualification as a Marine Mechanic or diesel mechanic would be ideal. A light vehicle mechanic looking to upskill would be suitable
- 3-6 years proven post-apprenticeship experience as an engine mechanic
- Strong technical skill set, knowledge of best practices
- Experience with engine diagnostics
- Problem solving skills and curiosity to learn new systems
- A detail oriented, quality mindset and proactive work ethic
- Exemplary communication skills to work with customers
- Ability to work with the team, as well as independently on tasks
- Promote the values of customer orientation, safety, quality and innovation
- Current Australian driver licence
- Tools of the trade
