Marine Pilot Manager - Port Hedland

We seek an enthusiastic Marine Pilot Manager with strong interpersonal management and leadership skills to work in the Auriga Pilots Division in Port Hedland. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who wishes to make a difference and imprint their mark with this growing Marine Pilotage Company.  

The Auriga Pilots Division is part of Auriga Group and is the largest employer of Marine Pilots across Australia. Auriga Group's three operating divisions of Pilots, Marine & Aviation operate across 20 sites nationally with a workforce of 300 + people. The Auriga Pilots Division provides essential Maritime Pilotage Services to major ports and coastal routes around Australia. 

THE ROLE:

This role reports directly to the General Manager of Auriga Pilots and will work closely with other senior leaders across the group. The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for delivering business goals and operational objectives for the pilot's division in Port Hedland. Your ability to successfully manage operations, monitor compliance, integrate teams, manage risk and safety will contribute to your success in the role. You will be the type of person who has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships and teams to achieve positive outcomes for all stakeholders. Duties include the following:

• Working collaboratively with the client to achieve jointly set goals and outcomes. 
• Ensuring that all Operational Safety Management requirements are communicated and adhered to by all Pilots;
• Provide professional guidance and advice on operational matters as required by Auriga Pilots operational staff and management team;
• Line management responsibility for the local Pilot teams. 
• Onboarding of Pilots as per company and client requirements. 
• Primary point of contact between client and Auriga Pilots.
• Monitor all training plans to ensure compliance. 
• Manage KPI reporting for key client. 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• 5-10 years of line management experience, min 20-person team in a shoreside maritime, port or mining sector environment.(Mandatory)  
• Pilotage experience is not required for this position. 
• P&L management experience (Mandatory)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines;
• Experience in managing diverse teams from different cultures.
• Strong people management skills and leadership.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;
• Understanding of Port Operations, with the ability to implement change.  
• Strong attention to detail and takes an active role in promoting, motivating and improving individual and collective quality, safety and environmental practices;
