AddressDue to an expanding workload, we have a position available to join our asphalt laboratory at the Materials Technology Centre.
The position in the asphalt laboratory is a hands-on role, and responsibilities include but are not limited to bitumen content tests, air voids, asphalt coring, particle sizing, aggregate grading, and others.
Your typical day will include:
- Preparation and testing of construction material samples in the asphalt laboratory.
- Performing equipment calibration and basic maintenance.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Ensuring testing is performed following industry standards.
- Ensuring accuracy of test results and timely output of work.
- Developing professional working relationships with key customers (internal and external).
- Opportunities to learn and work across multiple laboratories within MTC (Cement Chemical and Physical Laboratories, Concrete, Asphalt).
- Experience in construction materials testing and sampling (preferred).
- Understanding of Australian Standards and knowledge of NATA ISO/IEC 17025 requirements (desirable but not essential).
- Competency with relevant technical systems and LIMS such as QESTLab (desirable but not essential).
- Cert III in laboratory skills or Cert IV in laboratory techniques (highly advantageous).
- Detail oriented with strong time management skills.
