About Department
The Maternal & Child Health (M&CH) Nurse works in a team providing M&CH services at Sale, Maffra, Rosedale, Heyfield, Stratford and Loch Sport. The role links strongly with antenatal, maternity, allied health and social health providers within Central Gippsland Health Service and with other agencies supporting families in the local area including Child First, Child Protection, Medical Practitioners, Paediatricians and early childhood service providers.
About the Role
This position will work collaboratively to provide a high quality, effective Maternal & Child Health service at CGHS. The aim of the service is to strengthen the wellbeing of children, families and the community through family centred practice and implementation of the Key Ages & Stages framework. The position holder will provide professional and clinical leadership to the service.
Duties
- Comply with the legislation and common law applicable to M&CH nursing practice
- Promote child and family health and wellbeing through knowledge and practice Monitor health, growth and development of children from birth to school age to optimise health outcomes
- Act as a resource and advocate for family health and wellbeing by providing support, information and referral when necessary
- Undertake all interactions using and promoting effective communication skills
About You
- Registered nurse & registered midwife holding current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority
- Post graduate Maternal & Child Health qualification
- Proven and significant experience as a Maternal & Child Health nurse
- Understanding of and experience in application of the M&CH Key Ages & Stages Framework
- Preferred leadership/coordination experience
- Preferred Lactation qualification
- Current Driver’s License (evidence must be provided)
- Clear Police Check
- Clear Working with Children Check
