The Cassowary Hub Maternity Service provides woman-centred continuity of care within an ‘all risk’ Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) model working collaboratively as a key member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and optimal midwifery care in accordance with the National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral. The Cassowary Hub Maternity Caseload MGP model of care services from Deeral in the north to Kennedy in the south. The main maternity hub is located in Innisfail, with sub hubs covering Babinda and Tully catchment areas. You are invited to join a dynamic team with as .

About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate an ability to act as an advocate for midwifery in a broad context and across disciplines using positive role modelling and adherence to corporate values.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management capability through the expressed knowledge of team engagement and human, financial, and material resource management principles applicable to operational planning, coordination and evaluation of services including the Business Planning Framework.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical evidence-based skill and knowledge in midwifery, service coordination and interdisciplinary care management, evidenced by feedback, recency of practice and achieved clinical competencies.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will provide advanced management and professional leadership, supporting operation and strategic direction in a specific area of practice supporting the general function of the organisation through the application of specialist knowledge, best practice, leadership and change management.

About your role:

  • Provide effective and efficient management of service in collaboration with the Director of Nursing & Midwifery/Facility Manager, clinical and non-clinical staff to facilitate the provision of quality evidence-based care.
  • Accountable for providing sound professional leadership in dealing with significant issues related to assessment, planning, review, evaluation, and coordination of service programs in a defined practice area for groups and individuals with diverse requirements.
  • Effectively manage self and, in collaboration with Nurse Educators and other Nurse Unit Managers/Clinical Nurse Consultants develop staff to enable fulfilment of role responsibilities.
  • Provide effective communication, consultation, and negotiation throughout the service to ensure the involvement of stakeholders in the coordination of patient care.
