About the Role
Based at Kumul Marine Terminal in Papua New Guinea, this role combines the Platform Mechanic and the Platform Operators duties and is based on dual responsibilities.
Key accountabilities include:
- Monitoring the safe operation of the entire export system while on rostered Shift. This includes starting up & stopping of the export system, monitoring all applicable systems and performing adjustments as required.
- Responsible for diagnosing and repairing problems on platform equipment, creating timely work requests with accurate information to assist operations and maintenance personnel
- Maintain the miscellaneous pieces of mechanical equipment installed on the platform and supporting facilities.
- Includes but is not limited to removing, installing, rebuilding, troubleshooting and repairing the equipment.
- Various types of equipment:
- Diesel generators, HVCAC systems, refrigeration, air compressors, escape capsule, oil sampler, firewater systems, potable water systems, navigational aids, blowers, circulating fans, heat exchangers, valves and hoists.
- Carries out maintenance duties as required between tanker loadings.
- Responsible for carrying out PM checks on plant and safety equipment, completing SAP requirements and creating work requests as required.
- Assist terminal Mooring Masters in maintenance & repair of SPM equipment.
- Primary role in platform emergency response team as fire team leader.
- Responsible for maintaining logbook entries, daily reports, safety reports and supplying relevant information to various departments.
- Supervising contractors and additional maintenance personnel when required, especially with regards to repair and preventative maintenance on the platform.
- Ensuring all terminal equipment is maintained and safe to use.
- Assist the Helideck Landing Officer as required. Assemble sling loads for lifting off the platform if required.
- Responsible for all ordering of consumables and spares for the terminal including sourcing equipment from overseas suppliers via the internet.
The role is based on the Kumul Marine Terminal, Gulf Province and is a rotational role 28days on 28days off.
About You
Coming from an Oilfield Mechanic background or similar, the ideal candidate will demonstrate previous experience working on similar equipment in a remote or isolated environment and be prepared to reside in an isolated remote location at sea. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and problem-solving skills and an utmost commitment to safety.
To be successful, your skills will include:
- Trade Certificate in a Mechanical or Fitting field
- Valid Offshore Crane driver’s licence with ability to perform personnel transfers.
- Valid Emergency response (FTMO & FT Leader) and Level 2 first-aid training and TFOET
- Sufficient computer skills and competence in the Microsoft suite
In addition, you will possess substantial experience in Mechanic & Crane driver operations (Caterpillar Diesel experience preferred), along with a knowledge of cargo documentation and control room operations or be able to demonstrate to the ability to quickly pick up these skills.
The successful candidate must be willing to be vaccinated or will currently hold a recognised Vaccination Card
