Mechanical Drafter

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Drafter with experience in truck body building and fabrication to support the business design capabilities delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to support the business’s strategic objectives and remain a step ahead of the competition in this unwavering sector.
 
You will ideally have previous experience, minimum 5+ years working in a design and drafting capacity within a truck fabrication environment for industries such as road freight, transport, mining, waste management, road construction or road repair. The core responsibility will be to provide a high level of engineering design and drafting support to the Manufacturing, Technical Sales, Service, and Operations teams. BENEFITS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain drawings to support business development efforts.
• Design and draft new and modified equipment for production using Autodesk INVENTOR.
• Create mechanical, hydraulic and electrical schematics/ wiring diagrams for new and existing products.
• Carry out CAD solid modelling and detailing of parts and assemblies to ensure accurate designs.
• Assist in further developing engineering standards and systems to improve efficiency and quality.
• Ensure all designs and drawings are done according to regulatory requirements to industry standards.
• Perform stress analysis, FEA’s and general calculations to ensure product integrity and durability.
• Possess experience in designs that lead to practical and efficient manufacturing, based on Lean principles.

 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
To be successful in the role you will definitely have:

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and drafting experience
• Truck Body / Transport / Heavy Industry experience essential.
• Vehicle assembly or fabrication environment experience
• Strong 3D CAD modelling skills using INVENTOR or similar software.
• 2D Fabrication drawing experience.
• Knowledge and exposure to ADR and vehicle standards in heavy vehicle transport industry.
• Experience on M1 or Similar ERP/MRP systems.

 
Desirable:
 

• Trade or Mechanical Engineering qualifications with CAD training and experience required.
• Experience in sheet metal design for manufacturing and production.
• Familiarity with mobile products and ability to perform stress analysis and general calculations.
• Understanding of Lean principles and ability to design practical and efficient manufacturing solutions.
