As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with expertise in tunnelling and shotcrete equipment to join our team.
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with expertise in underground and tunnelling projects to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing mechanical aspects of operations, maintenance and construction projects, ensuring adherence to engineering standard and driving the successful completion of internal and external projects within safety, budget and timeline constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and guidance in Mechanical Engineering aspects drilling, shotcrete and excavation works equipment
- Oversee & manage the design, installation and maintenance of drilling, shotcrete and excavation equipment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions and optimize equipment performance
- Manage maintenance schedules, budgets and resources effectively to achieve necessary company objectives
- Ensuring all equipment is scheduled and maintained in line with OEM requirements
- Establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, FAT & SAT testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations
- Supporting the design of mechanical equipment, machines, components and products for bespoke manufacturing requirements of the business
- Analysing equipment utilisation, operational data and production schedules and costs to determine optimum equipment efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout all project phases
- Mentor and support junior technicians to foster professional development and enhance team capabilities
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from a reputable institution
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering and maintenance roles. Tunnelling and shotcrete experience is advantageous
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role demonstrating strong decision making and project management skills in the same industry
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, with the ability to manage multiple elements concurrently
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment and technologies used in tunnelling works
- Experience with drilling equipment and techniques specifically drilling methodologies for rock reinforcement
- Familiarity with shotcrete equipment and application techniques. Familiarity with Transcrete and Jacon equipment is advantageous
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes and regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a can do attitude
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work remotely when required based on project(s) requirements
- Attention to detail and precision in workmanship
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
