Weir Minerals is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
You will be responsible for the design modifications and the continuous improvement of pumping, centrifuge and fuel supply equipment for the business as well as design for Engineered to Order projects, working in a multi-discipline engineering team.
While the role is advertising for a mechanical engineer with 2-5 years’ experience, applications from mechanical engineers with more than 5 years + experience in a Senior/Advanced Mechanical Engineer role and RPEQ/CPEng will also be considered.
The key responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to:
Produce engineering design deliverables for engineered to order projects and products
Liaises effectively with stakeholders such as purchasing, project management and sales. Also liaises with subcontract engineering services, leading on process and quality improvement.
Provides engineering support in a manufacturing environment to projects and products
Participate in Design Reviews to ensure designs are safe, operable, maintainable, compliant, economic, and can be manufactured and constructed with ease.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with 2-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing, heavy industry, mine or mine processing, or mechanical design environment.
CPEng and RPEQ in mechanical engineering or ability to acquire this within one year of service would be desirable but not essential.
Proven track record in delivering complex projects, on budget, on schedule and to the required level of quality essential. Experience in multi-discipline EPCM projects desirable.
Experience with 3D CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor) is essential, experience with FEA (ideally Nastran) is preferable
Exposure to with HAZOPs, FMEAs, DFMA methods desirable
Ability to develop strong relationships within the team and respective stakeholders
Must be a self-starter, someone who is able to take the initiative as part of delivery of engineering design scope for projects.
Knowledge and experience of manufacturing and assembly processes.
Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and multi-task whilst maintaining attention to detail.
