About your new role:

Currently, Energy Queensland has a permanent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer – Fleet to join the Operations Division. The role can be located at any major Energy Queensland location including Brisbane, Cairns, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, or Townsville.

In the role, you will be responsible for providing Mechanical Engineering support and advice to the Fleet division and wider EQL business which consists of over 5,000 assets including, 4x4 Vehicles, Elevated Work Platforms, Lifter Borers, and EV Cars. You will be accountable for providing analysis and recommendations for future technology EQL should be considering, to fulfil requirements utilising your specialised Mechanical Engineering knowledge. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership and be a subject matter expert to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and technical accreditations, in particular maintaining RPEQ and meeting the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act Queensland. Finally, you will participate in tender analysis for EQL contracts and improve the efficiency of EQL fleet through technical innovation, product development and continuous improvement.

With flexi-working and a 9 or 10-day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band starts from $164,752 for 9 days and $186,170 for 10 days + 12.75% superannuation. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position.

About you:

Critical to your success in the role is your:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with registration as a Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).
  • Current ‘HR’ Class Driver’s licence.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislative obligations related to Fleet and Plant.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience analysing financial and operational performance information to enhance business performance.
  • High level of interpersonal and influencing skills to accommodate robust conversations and make strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in negotiation, consultation, and provision of specialised advice with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business benefit and business values, including tools and skills to support change, innovation, customer service, commercial outcomes and/or business efficiency.
