Based on the Central Coast NSW, McConaghy has 50 years’ experience manufacturing world renowned bespoke composite structures. Projects range from Custom Carbon Fiber race yachts through to high tech composites, commercial & Defence sectors.
About the role
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Draftsman to join our Central Coast team. The ideal candidate will have an interest working within the marine sector. You will be working alongside a highly skilled team & be exposed to a wide range of projects within a variety of sectors.
Duties
- Preparing drawings, plans and designs for Mechanical Engineering work under the direction of management and clients.
- After approval by supervisor, to issue construction drawings, and phase out superseded drawings.
- Assisting Mechanical Engineers and Technologists in the design of mechanical equipment and plant
- To maintain and organize construction drawings and project-specific information into the job folders (weekly).
- Estimating material costs and quantities.
- Collecting and analysing data.
- Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant.
- Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations, and contract provisions.
- To create and detail 2D and 3D drawings under supervisor’s instruction, in DWG & 3DM FORMAT (AutoCAD and Rhino software.)
- To prepare 2D and 3D files to be CNC Machined, 3D printed or for 1:1 templates.
- To record the weight of the composite parts and monitor against design targets (weekly).
- To modify existing DWG’s or models to develop concepts or designs pertinent to current projects.
- To contribute to team effort by accomplishing project-related results as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
- Relevant qualification and two years of relevant work experience.
- Competent use of AutoCad & Rhino is essential
- Fusion 360 software knowledge is desirable
- Sound knowledge of 2D & 3D modelling
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with others and in teams
- Ability to work autonomously
- Flexibility and versatility to accommodate changes
