The operation is situated on land traditionally owned by the Kalkadoon People and we respect their rights and interests.The RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for an Fitter - Leading Hand role at our George Fisher Mine Operations.In this role you will ensure to safely and effectively perform planned and breakdown maintenance tasks by working within a team and promoting site safety standards and ensuring the highest standards of work are conducted and maintained. You will also be assisting the Supervisor by acting in a leadership capacity for the crew.Your key responsibilities include:
Assist in complying with required Australian standards, mine regulations, environmental standards and any other relevant documents
Adhere to GDL-111005 Ready Reference for Supervisors
Promote and encourage personnel compliance with Glencore’s Environmental Policies and Procedures
To assist the supervisor by acting in a leadership capacity for the crew.
To act in supervisor role when supervisor is absent.
Promote safety initiatives to reduce injury statistics
Encourage personnel to participate in safety-related activities
Identify potential improvements to work practices and conditions
Ensure no environmental fines or penalties are incurred in your work area of responsibility
Provide feedback to the Supervisor on a regular basis
Be proactive in maintaining competencies as specified in the UM1T Training Plan
Assist in managing and coordinating time and priorities for self and team
Identify potential safety and cost-saving initiatives
Ensure any enquiries from the media are referred directly to the Community Relations department
To deliver personnel and equipment to job sites and return surplus equipment to stores
To assist in achieving budgeted development and production KPIs by performing varied tasks.
Ensure that SWI, JSEA’s and PRA/SLAM’s are being used within the crews
To contribute positively to the team environment, operate safely and assist with delivery of production targets within budget.
The successful applicants will have:
Trade Qualified Boilermaker or Fitter
Valid Australian Manual Drivers Licence
S1,2,3
Minimum of 5 years mechanical mining experience
Experience in a similar leadership role an advantage
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite- Word, Excel and Outlook
Knowledge of SAP operating system would be an advantage.
Crushing and conveying experience
Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for mining operations
Experience supervising and developing large work teams to deliver business outcomes
