Sydney Terminal
Our Sydney Terminal is located in Botany Bay in Sydney's south east and is one of Australia’s largest container seaport operations. Fitted out with state-of-the-art container handling equipment, computerised control systems and extensive reefer facilities, the Terminal is a dynamic 7 day, 24 hour operation. The port environment offers variety and represents an outstanding opportunity to grow as a professional in Australia’s Logistics and Supply Chain Industry.
About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join the Engineering team at our Port Botany Terminal.
Reporting to the Maintenance Shift Supervisor, this role is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery. The person we are seeking to appoint must be experienced in heavy industrial equipment and be able to work Monday-Friday day shift 12 hour roster.
Experience, skills and qualifications
Key accountabilities
- Undertake mechanical repairs and refurbishment to the required standard
- Conduct regular planned mechanical maintenance and repairs as instructed
- Respond to and address equipment breakdowns in an appropriate timeframe
- Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System as required
- Adhere to all OHS&E Policies & Procedures at all times
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and operating procedures
Experience, skills and qualifications
- Trades certificate (e.g. Fitter & Turner, Plant Mechanic) and Certificate IV in Engineering
- NSW Drivers Licence
- Minimum five years’ experience as a tradesperson in heavy industry
- Competent with the use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. Maximo, SAP)
- Previous knowledge and experience of working with heavy industrial equipment
- High level of competency with industrial hydraulics and modern diesel engines desirable
- Previous experience of working in a team environment
- Knowledge of OHS&E requirements and obligations
- Strong inter personal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people
- Ability to work shift work and the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position
- Ability to identify required parts and tooling together with planning tasks
- Ability to work at heights
- EWP & Forklift Licence essential
