We respectfully help family and friends honour the lives of loved ones and safeguard memories for future generations.We have one permanent position available for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Tradesperson at Karrakatta Cemetery, which will be available for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.Consideration will be given for full time and or part time with job sharing arrangements.About you

About the roleWe are seeking a compassionate person who is passionate about Mechanical Maintenance to provide a seamless and high quality service to clients in our beautiful cemeteries.The Mechanical Maintenance Tradesperson will be responsible for:

• Undertaking and organising general maintenance, service and repairs to the Metropolitan Cemetery Board’s (MCB) assets including vehicles, fixed and mobile plant and grounds equipment.
• Liaising with external contractors and trains MCB staff in the proper use of vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Undertaking plant and equipment condition reporting and inventory audits including portable and attractive assets on a weekly/monthly basis and conducts an annual stocktake.
• Overseeing the backup generators servicing and load testing and plant & equipment maintenance and repair scheduling, tracking and asset management data entry.

Eligibility Requirements

• Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance that is under six months old. A criminal conviction may not preclude you from gaining employment.
• Australian permanent residency is a minimum requirement for permanent appointment to the West Australian Public Sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.
• Recommended applicants will need to pass a pre-employment medical examination which includes a standard Drug and Alcohol screening test.
