Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the purpose of this role is to achieve both Production and Maintenance objectives and long-term sustainability of the plant.
During Maintenance Season you will be responsible for:
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the servicing and repairs to the Almond Processing Plant machinery and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records regarding service requirements on maintained and non-maintained operating lease equipment providers
- Assist in the establishment of quality assurance procedures and practised for equipment repair
- Coordinate and repair maintenance operations
- Fit, assemble, grind and shape metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate plant equipment
- Record and analyse costs, seek to improve margins through innovations to labour, consumables and stock management.
- Completing preventative maintenance work
- Carry out fabrication work
Maintain successful working relationships with contractors and suppliers to ensure timelines, scoped works and combined stocks are aligned with the planned maintenance program and budget.

During Processing Season you will be responsible for:
Core Responsibilities
- Start, stop, and adjust the plant accordingly to achieve production objectives.
- Follow all Safety directives and Procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the area of responsibility.
- Have a full understanding of the process flow.
- Follow all Start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Fill out reports as required as required and raise any issues to the Supervisor immediately.
- Make necessary machine adjustments in line with the area of responsibility.
- Report all maintenance issues to the Supervisor, and record on the Operator’s report.
- Check product sample samples as required and make necessary adjustments.
- Check product weights as applicable and required.
- Make suggestions on areas for improvement.
- Work in line with Autonomous Maintenance principles of CLIT (Cleaning, Lubrication, Inspection and Tightening) as may be directed.

The successful candidate will have experience within the food industry and a good understanding of processes. As well as competent computer skills and understanding of programmed maintenance of machinery as well as previous positions held in workshops or workshop management. This is a busy role, so you will need excellent problem-solving skills and a positive, flexible attitude to succeed. Solid mechanical maintenance experience within the food manufacturing industry is key. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and a range of mechanical equipment, coupled with fabrication skills would ensure you hit the ground running
Mechanical Engineering or metal fabrication qualifications are preferred, or relevant mechanical experience in the absence of a qualification.
