  • Fortescue's Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D6R ex Perth, Busselton, Karratha and BroomeFortescue is seeking an experienced Operations and Maintenance Technician. You will be responsible for the upkeep and smooth operation of our electrolysis and liquefaction facilities. Your primary duties will involve maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and servicing of equipment.You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with safety standards and regulations, while also contributing to the efficient operation of our hydrogen systems.Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair gas systems and equipment in industrial settings.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to ensure the integrity and safety of gas installations.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to plan and execute gas fitting maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to coordinate gas fitting activities.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and industry standards to minimize risks and ensure compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to gas systems, appliances, and equipment.
  • Provide guidance and support to learning gas fitters as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, tests, and repairs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to gas fitting.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Certification as an Industrial Gas Fitter, with qualifications in Type B appliances, Class I(a) I(b), and Class P.
  • Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing gas systems and equipment in industrial settings.
  • Restricted electrical license (Electrical licence desirable), demonstrating competence in electrical work within the scope of gas fitting responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of gas fitting techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Excellent understanding of safety regulations and industry standards related to gas installations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals.
  • Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in operations and maintenance roles, preferably in a similar industrial setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and address equipment issues.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations applicable to industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed.
