About the role
The Media and PR Manager is part of a dynamic national media team that is also responsible for internal and external communication from the Office of the Chief Executive. You will be expected to deliver a strong Public Relations focus to media output, in particular, supporting Media and marketing campaigns and activations. The role will work closely with the Media Manager NSW/ACT,, to manage media events and opportunities, to support donor centre staff and our spokespeople with media opportunities across both states, but particularly in the Sydney area.
As Media and PR Manager, you will also work closely with the Senior Media Manager, Content and Campaigns, to drive brand awareness through earned media opportunities. Based in Sydney, where a large proportion of the national media content is generated, the role will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including journalists and producers, PR agencies, donor centre staff and spokespeople, senior leadership team, the Executive, as well as specialist teams across other parts of the organisation, such as the brand team or Lifeblood’s milk service.

Bachelor’s degree level qualifications in communication, journalism or Public Relations or relevant work experience
Minimum five years’ demonstrated experience
Experience working in or with PR agencies
Experience in developing and executing PR and communication strategies and plans
Story search and identification skills, as well as storytelling skills
Proven ability to advise on, develop and implement media strategies in the achievement of organisational objectivesExperience executing and managing media calls
Proven ability to influence stakeholders to interact effectively and responsibly with media
Excellent media relations skills and experience briefing and coaching spokespeople
Experience in providing strategic advice and support to leaders and colleagues
Highly developed ability to work to deadline, often juggling competing demands
A mature approach and understanding of the sensitivities of Lifeblood’s work, including the privacy of donors, recipients, and their families.
Excellent consulting and problem-solving skills
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until May 2025 with the possibility to become permanent. It is a hybrid role based in Sydney with work from home flexibility. You will have the option of working out of our Sydney Processing Centre one or more days per week if desired.
