We have an exciting new opportunity for a Media and Public Relations Specialist to join genU!
The Media and Public Relations Specialist will work to enhance awareness and understanding of genU, leading to improved brand awareness, reputation and positioning that supports the achievement of genU’s Vision, Mission and organisation goals.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

• Identify story and messaging opportunities from the business to share internally and externally;
• Identify opportunities to position genU as an advocate and thought leader in community forums, such as LinkedIn, conferences, and media;
• Research for and prepare a variety of communications including media releases/comments/positioning statements, speeches and presentations for executive external speaking engagements, and feature articles on genU holistically for publications;
• Assist with the development of award submissions to seek industry and public recognition of genU as a service delivery leader;
• Assist with content development for genU corporate documents such as the annual report;
• Liaise with journalists across Australia to position genU for positive media coverage;
• Monitor and report on media coverage as required and appropriate to suit the information needs of the business;
• Scan for and monitor PR risks and provide advice around mitigation strategies.

This role is critical in giving our voice and advocacy to shape public perception in favour of vulnerable communities, to build awareness and the reputation of genU, and to position the organisation as a sector leader.
You will join the collaborative Communications team who work together to ensure a well-planned, integrated and coordinated approach for genU's communications.
This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity - flexible working arrangements available with office visits to the genU Support Hub in Geelong, Victoria required.
Renumeration package from $90,000 - $120,000 p.a. (including super) + salary packaging benefits, commensurate with experience.
About You?
Our ideal Media and Public Relations Specialist will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Outstanding communication skills;
• Communications planning and media strategy experience;
• Strong stakeholder and media management skills;
• Ability to write content for a range of mediums including online, social media, media releases and corporate documents;
• Ability to think creatively and use initiative to develop new ideas;
• Ability to deliver communications to a diverse stakeholder group;
• Strong attention to detail and an eye for a story;
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team and collaborate well with staff at all levels of an organisation.
• Desirable: Desire to remain up to date in an ever-changing media landscape
• Desirable: Awards submission experience
• Desirable: Previous experience in a diverse, fast-paced business environment.

You will need the following:

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role;
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain;
• Current NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate or willingness to obtain;
• Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in PR, Communications or related discipline.
