Melbourne Pathology is one of Victoria’s largest diagnostic pathology laboratories, committed to providing high quality healthcare throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Medical Technician to join our busy Chemical Pathology Department located in Collingwood.
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week). Shifts are varied as the department operates 24 hours per day/7 days a week. The successful applicant will be required to participate in the department’s rostering system with shifts commencing at 8am, 10am, 4pm and 12am as rostered, including public holidays and weekends.
In this role you will:
- Perform routine maintenance and sample testing on laboratory instrumentation
- Prepare samples for analysis, prioritising urgent patient samples
- Analyse, review, action and troubleshoot quality control results
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping duties
- Assist in staff training.
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience in a chemical pathology diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience
- A Diploma of Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation/equipment in a pathology laboratory
- The ability to work as part of a busy team and independently
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Awareness of laboratory occupational health and safety issues.
