UQ has made a to making education opportunities available for all Queenslanders, regardless of personal, financial, or geographical barriers.As part of our commitment to excellence in research and professional practice in academic contexts, we are proud to provide our staff with access to world-class facilities and equipment, grant writing support, greater research funding opportunities, and other forms of staff support and development.About This OpportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for a Medical Officer with a specialist qualification in Geriatric Medicine to use their expert knowledge of the clinical management and care of older patients to provide oversight and review of safety data and reports for clinical trials conducted by the Australian Frailty Network.Key responsibilities will include:Review study protocols to identify possible safety implications and advise on potential follow-up actions and stopping rules for documentation in the trial safety monitoring planEvaluate adverse events, safety reports and new literature related to the trial intervention and provide appropriate recommendations to trial committees and investigator teamsProvide relevant safety and medical input into the design and conduct of clinical trials in older populationsPrepare regular summary reports of events for trial committees and, if indicated, participate in preparing reports for regulatory bodies and ethics committeesRegularly review aggregated safety data and make recommendations to the Trial Management Committee for follow-up actions as documented in the trial safety monitoring planContribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journalsThis is a clinical academic position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s .This is a part-time (0.25%), fixed-term position for up to 12 months. At Academic level C, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201.83 - $152,202.33, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676.15 - $178,076.72 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.The greater of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.About YouA Medical Degree and subsequent specialist qualification in Geriatric Medicine with at least two (2) years relevant experience in the conduct of clinical research, or equivalent experience in clinical practiceDemonstrated expert knowledge of the clinical management and care of older patientsAn understanding of safety monitoring for clinical trials and the principles of Good Clinical PracticeAn ability to establish effect relationships to make a significant contribution to the academic discipline relevant to your profession at a university and wider community level, including industry, government, and professional bodiesIn addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
