The Position
The Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Nurse to join the team. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing expert care, support, and treatment to patients experiencing Mental Health challenges.
Working within a specialised Mental Health unit, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients' well-being and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing support to the inpatient Mental Health unit.
- Collaborate with a team of 12 nurses
- Support patients with Mental Health conditions such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients, assisting them in managing their conditions.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health care professionals to coordinate treatment plans.
- Support group therapy sessions and provide one-on-one support to patients as needed.
- Educate patients and families about Mental Health conditions and treatment options.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in continuous professional development activities.
- Participate in the on-call roster.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with valid AHPRA registration.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing (preferred).
- Proven experience in Mental Health nursing (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental attitude towards patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
