Clinical Nurse Specialist - Child And Adolescent Mental Health Service

As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality Mental Health Services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Specialist:

• Undertakes the delivery of quality care to clients of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.
• Provides a specialist assessment and treatment service to clients of CAMHS and their families or carers.
• Promotes community awareness in relation to Mental Health and acts as a consultant to other agencies with regard to the support and management of clients with Mental Health needs.

The Role:

1. Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through the provision of assessment, case management and individual therapies, including specialised therapies for clients and their families or carers.
   
2. Provide evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for clients with major and complex Mental Health problems, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
   
3. Function as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.
   
4. Prepare specialised reports as required.
   
5. Consult and liaise with the broader health system including GP’s, other Agencies and families and carers to optimise service effectiveness and efficiency and continuity of care.

The Youth Mental Health Team (South)

• Community-based, strength-focused team for youth aged 16-24
• Varied programs include DBT-based group work, therapeutic care coordination, and consultation-liaison for other community-based services
• Permanent role - relocation allowance may be available for right applicant

Details of Appointment

Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

• Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
• A Multi-Disciplinary Allowance may apply to this position

• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

1. Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate Mental Health/psychiatric nursing qualifications; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that leads to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
   
2. Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

1. Postgraduate qualification in Nursing or related field or working towards a postgraduate qualification in a related discipline.
   
2. Experience/expertise in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and/or Child Development
   
3. Current Driver’s License
