How We Make an Impact
Recovery Station provides community and clinic based allied health services, with a strong focus on disability and senior health. For nearly 20 years we have consistently grown and now proudly offer support to people with diverse needs across the Greater Hunter, Central Coast, Sydney and Illawarra regions.
Together, our passionate, multidisciplinary team of OTs, Mental Health OT’s, Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants collaboratively share their knowledge and experience to holistically design an individualised service to help improve the quality of life for people living with a disability or looking to age as independently as possible.
Your Day to Day
As a community- based team, we predominantly see our clients either in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that's relevant and appropriate for them. We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable whilst also giving you a diverse role full of variety and learning opportunities.
Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing clients one day, then balance this by working from home or having an office day (Erina) to write reports, prepare resources, have supervision / training. Or you can mix things up depending how you like to work!
A community role is great as it allows you to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days and therefore you don't miss your afternoon sport or being able to drop the kids to school in the mornings / pick them up in the afternoons!
Depending where you are living, we tailor your caseload to service clients close to home. Your personalised admin support team will work with you to ensure you aren't zigzagging around the coast and you'll have clients to see close to you.
Day to day you will support your clients to achieve an optimal state of personal, social and emotional wellbeing, as defined by the individual needs of each person. You will achieve this by working with them to identify barriers to optimal functioning through interventions that focus on enhancing existing skills, creating opportunities, promoting wellness, remediating or restoring skills, modifying or adapting the environment or activity, and preventing relapse.
You will be trained to provide trauma informed, person-centred, evidence-based interventions for people in our community experiencing moderate to severe Mental Health presentations including: acute and chronic psychotic disorders; schizophrenia; bipolar; generalised anxiety; depression; PTSD; alcohol and drug use disorders; mixed anxiety and depression; dissociative (conversion) disorder; sleep problems and OCD.
With our support you will become extremely competent in writing comprehensive reports based on your clinical understanding, conducting clinical assessments and implementing appropriate interventions to address prioritised needs.
