We are seeking a friendly & enthusiastic person to join our team as 'Merchandiser/Nursery Hand' to perform a sales role & also work in the nursery.

Tibballs Nursery is a wholesale, third-generation, family-owned business located in Brighton, Southern Tasmania. We have a trusted name in the horticulture industry for 78 years.' Our team consists of 40 employees.
We supply a variety of plants to most major chain stores and retail garden centres throughout Tasmania, including Flower & Vegetable Seedlings, Potted Herbs, Potted Tomatoes, Potted Capsicums, Potted Chilli, Potted Strawberries, Potted Colour, Cyclamen, Indoor House Plants & Flowering Perennials in various sizes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist our current Merchandisers in Southern Tasmanian stores.
- Clean, move up & make space for plants on benches.
- Arrange plants on benches in a presentable manner.
- Place greenlife orders while consulting with customers.
- Help put stock away on benches after deliveries.
- Create strong working relationship with our customers.
- Visit customers throughout Tasmania in our display van (Shared Roster)
- Work in the nursery.
The successful applicant must:
- Have reliable transport with a current car drivers' licence.
- Work extremely well in a team environment
- Be highly motivated
- Work well under pressure
- Be physically fit (Due to the amount of lifting)
- Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions
- Must have excellent punctuality
- Have the flexibility to work overtime on some weekdays in Spring.
- Occasionally work on weekends.
As part of the position, you will be required to work in the nursery for a reasonable portion of the time and perform Nursery Hand duties. These include working in dispatch labelling, staking & cleaning up, packing & watering plants, working on the end of some of our machines which include a potting machine, transplanting machine, seeder machine & tray filler machine, spacing & moving plants, potting & transplanting by hand, watering & weeding.
Applicants who have had previous experience in either retail merchandising, in a greenlife environment or nursery work will be strongly considered but is not an essential requirement.
We would prefer the successful applicant to be employed on a Full-Time basis working 38 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Overtime hours may be offered during the busiest time of the year.
Hourly rate will be negotiated according to experience and position. You will be employed under the Nursery Award 2020.
